Best dollhouse ever!
After much searching for a dollhouse that would not be easily destroyed (and my daughters year-long quest to convince “Santa” that a dollhouse with an elevator is crucial in her happiness), my husband and I decided this would be the dollhouse of the century. We were right, our 5 year old daughter absolutely loves her dollhouse! BTW, Mommy thinks it quite nice as well. Now be prepared,if you’re assembling it by yourself, to get a bit of a workout. It’s probably much easier to assemble with the help of someone else. It took me a few hours over two days to complete my project. I had to hide it after I put it together, so it’s a bit hefty fully assembled. The directions were pretty straightforward; I really had no major issues other than the elevator track being in two parts instead of one. I called Kidkraft and they sent the part right away, apologizing for the inconvenience. Thank you Kidkraft for standing behind your product and for having such an excellent customer service department. Sadly, that is such a rarity nowadays….The dollhouse furniture is darling, my daughter is especially fond of the piano (which plays a snippet of music), lamp (which works as well…be aware that once you switch it on, it shuts off by itself) and the table/chair set. Batteries were included for the the piano, lamp and toilet.My 3 year old gets in on the fun as well. Who knew they had so many fashion dolls? There is more than enough room for two children to play in the various areas of the house…and don’t forget that there are two, yes two, balconies! The 5 year old has even added additional furniture from her old Barbie fold-up vacation home.This is not a tiny dollhouse, it takes up a big space. But, if you are so inclined, you can mount it against a wall (hardware included) if you want it to stay in a specific location in your home.I think it is quite sturdy and durable and will be played with for a very long time. Also, based upon various friends/family comments comparing this one to the Barbie townhouse, we made the best purchase. I purchased it on Black Friday 2011 and got it for a very good price as well (yay me!). Many other sites had it listed at around $160, it was under $120 here. Thanks Amazon!

Takes time to assemble but worth it.
I recommend this product. Everything arrived unbroken and on time. Its extremely sturdy. All pieces were in box were labeled and boxed nicely in carton. Assembly took about 3-4 hours. I checked off all pieces a head of time to make sure none were missing before we started the process to put it together. It was not difficult to assemble it was a bit tedious because of so many pieces. My husband suggests using wood screws for the elevator to make it easier to put together. (But the screws provided did work.) It comes with enough furniture to get started but also allows addtional furniture to be purchased and added and still have room. (I love the lighted lamp, piano that makes music and the sound of the toilet flushing are really cute and adds a special touch. The hanging plant on baloney is adorable). The elevator does work and is a “little tight” but I don’t think it will be to difficult to operate. If it is we will use some of the suggestions mentioned and try to make it work easier. I am glad I read reviews a head of time and used others helpful suggestions about making sure screw colors match the house color when putting together. Directions are just pictures but you can figure it out. But addtional details would have been helpful. This was purchased for my granddaughters 3rd birthday and we can’t wait to see her open it.

Christmas surprise great for young girls with Barbie or Lottie dolls
Yes, assembly was time consuming. My son and I worked together. If you can do ikea, you can do this. Allow 3 hours and it might take 2.The organization of screws was excellent and color and number coded. We had a couple struggles and one part that seemed easier if I swapped the order of 2 steps, but overall it was fun to build! The end product has been sturdy enough for my toddler to climb before I correct her, as well as for jumping dolls in the house. It is big. If my girl would have liked calico critters and a smaller wooden house, I would prefer that, but she wanted barbie size like they had at child watch. The elevator could use a little grease and the piano legs are weak but other than that everything has been great. On sale, this was a real bargain. Very happy.
