A Good Buy
If you are sick of shelling out big bucks for junk, you can rest easy with this thing. It’s simple to put together (took me about an hour, but that was with distractions – pay attention and you can have it done in half that time). It is very sturdy; in fact the chair bolts are so long and fit so tightly I’m pretty sure it would withstand the house falling on it. It’s a very attractive design. I did not attach the bulletin board as we didn’t really need it and I was afraid it would get battered (note that it can’t be removed once stuck on). The price is not bad considering the quality and the fact that you get very nice matching chair. If you saw this in a furniture store for this price, you’d snap it up, and it doesn’t have a cheap flat-pack feel to it. I can’t speak for the other colors but the pink is classy and muted, neither bubble gum nor Barbie. It’s a good fit for my small five year-old with plenty of room to grow. I’d buy from this company again for sure.

After 4 and a Half Years…
Update:My daughter will be 11 years old soon and is 5’1″. She still uses this desk for certain tasks, but prefers to do her homework at the dinner table or on the floor. She is a bit tall for it in the same way I was when she was 6; she has to hunch a bit, but her legs have space. The chair I put a crack in has not changed one bit and we’ve used it as a stool plenty of times. It’s lasted me the past 4+ years with all wear and no tear. I’ll be giving this desk away to a family with a smaller/younger child soon, but just wanted to reassure anyone browsing that this desk is of quality at an unbelievable price.Original Review:I’ve had this desk for over a month now and it’s been amazing. I assembled it with one other person in 35 minutes, but it’s definitely able to be built alone given some extra time. I bought it in teal, my daughter’s favorite color. She’s been using the bulletin board for her drawings, and we’ve got all the shelves and cubbies filled with her school supplies and workbooks. The main selling point on this desk for me were the two cubbies located beneath the desk. Many other desks offer drawers, but as her desk is on carpet it wouldn’t be as efficient to move her chair every other activity to get drawers opened. It’s a first-world problem, but I like this desk for that convenience feature. There’s also a ton of tabletop space, and if I can manage to keep it clear of clutter, she’s able to multi-task with ease.Upon assembly, I did crack the wood in the chair VERY slightly, but I’m still giving 5 Stars because that was 100% my fault for tightening the screws too much. The product tells you not to do that, but I made a mindless mistake. As for size, I bought this for my six year old, and she fits in it perfectly. I can tell there’s room to grow because I use this desk sometimes and while I do hunch a bit, I still fit in the chair and my knees aren’t hitting any edges.Overall an amazing purchase that she can use for years. We love it.

Cute functional desk
My daughter wanted a desk for school work, this one hold all her supplies and is a good size for elementary age kids. Glad I was able to find something moderately priced, nice finish and it’s very sturdy.

Solid. Fits my 1st grader perfectly.

Great for bigger school age kids.
Deak is bigger than I expected and extremely well made. Lots of little nooks and crannys. Perfect for school age children. Easy to put together but heavy duty.

Cosmetically/structurally damaged on arrival.
Bought this media desk for my son to have somewhere to do homework at my office. Package was in good order on arrival, but problems arose with the main desktop when I began putting it all together. Please refer to the attached pictures for reference. (These photos were taken roughly 12 hours after assembly and one use by my son.)The under-desk storage divider was not properly fastened to the underside of the desk itself. (See 2nd photo for separation of divider from under top assembly) On initial inspection, I believed that the divider just needed to be screwed down into the MDF, but on a further glance I realized that whomever had installed the screws had actually stripped out the threading into the desk. This is unfortunately not fixable without either clamping and gluing, or drilling new holes for the fastener. This should have been caught during production and fixed/discarded. For now I’m going to leave it as is and will add additional screws or glue it later. The second issue is the gouging on the desktop itself. (See 3rd photo) While this is purely cosmetic, I expect better quality control from a $300 dollar desk. I understand that a childs desk will take on damage over time and use, but it would be nice if my product didn’t come “pre-damaged”Overall, my son likes the desk, and I will take it as is. I plan to shore up the storage section later when I have time, but this isn’t something I should have to do. Guidecraft does offer a return policy, but I do not have the time to disassemble a 75lb desk, repackage it, ship it, only to wait to have another one sent.I am leaving a 1/5 star review for this due to the nature of the damage and for visibility of anyone who may consider purchasing this.
