Big Science Fun for Little Hands Educational & Engaging!
The Learning Resources Primary Science Lab is a favorite in our home, just like all their products. Designed specifically for young children, each piece is perfectly sized for little hands to grip and use independently. The kit includes real, functional tools beakers, test tubes, goggles, a magnifying glass and they’re all sturdy and easy to clean. What really sets this kit apart are the activity cards. They offer simple, guided experiments that help parents lead fun, hands-on learning without needing a science background. My child feels like a real scientist and stays engaged for long stretches, asking great questions along the way. It sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and supports STEM learning in a fun, age-appropriate way. We’ve used it both indoors and outside. Highly recommended for ages 3 to 7, especially if you’re looking to make learning exciting and screen-free!

    Perfect starter set for preschoolers
This science set was lots of fun for my daycare kiddos. All of the instruments are just the right size for them to hold and manipulate and see through. They fight over the goggles, which are nicely designed for younger kids, durable and comfortable to wear. The surprise hit of the show was the dropper, which really is great for sucking up liquids and squirting them back out again. :)We actually already had a Learning Resources magnifying glass, and while there are many things the kids love about it – the size and weight and the little stand appeal — unfortunately we haven’t found ours (either of them) to work well. You can’t really see anything through them. It’s not a high-quality lens, at all. (It does stand up to two toddler boys using it as a baseball bat, though. But we couldn’t see through it even prior to that, um, incident.)There is a nice set of ten laminated cards with experiments on them, but I’m honestly not sure how much value they add to the set. For one thing, the experiments are so simple (mixing food coloring, putting raisins in soda, dropping insects into the test tubes to observe them, growing plants in the test tube, mixing baking soda and vinegar to make a volcano, mixing colored water and vegetable oil) that you don’t really need the cards to be able to perform them, and once you’ve done the experiments once, the cards are a little obsolete. We did most of the interesting experiments in a single afternoon, although the kids are all happy to repeat them and make up their own whenever I take out the large plastic tub where I’ve stored the kit and assorted supplies (food coloring, raisins, a can of soda, a bottle of vinegar, a box of baking soda – you will want some of this stuff on hand when the kit arrives.)Definitely a fun introduction to science.

    Educational and fun!
This is such a fun & educational science set. It includes the “lab equipment” you’ll need for the experiments, and there is a set of large cards in the set with detailed instructions for conducting simple experiments. It’s a great way to introduce little children to science. My little 3 year old granddaughter loves this set! She was thrilled to wear the safety glasses (!), and insisted on repeating the volcano experiment at least 8 times as soon as we opened this set!

Sturdy beginner science kit, good for imaginary/exploratory play
My four-year-old loves doing experiments with this kit, and also uses the pieces for imaginative play. The pieces are nice and chubby so they’re easy for little hands to grasp, and the experiment instructions are clear and straightforward. The tweezers are the only part of the kit I’m not happy with, as they are a bit hard to pinch with and frustrating to use. We’ve done almost all the experiments that were included. My son’s favourite is the “volcano” and the colour mixing. You don’t really need the equipment here to do these kinds of experiments, but the beaker and test tubes act as props to make the whole experience more fun and I appreciated having a plan to follow, not being a lab nerd myself!

    Great Set For Young People!
This set was the best gift I have purchased in a very long time! I would recommend this to anyone. It’s extremely sturdy and safe while being tons of fun. My kids beg to ‘do’ science. (Even the 9 year old and her cousins get this set out all the time.)The volcano is hands-down the funnest, I would recommend buying white vinegar and baking soda in bulk at your local warehouse store for a TON of fun.One reviewer was disappointed that it wasn’t a ‘kit’ and some ‘ingredients’ didn’t come with it. (Even going so far as to say that you would have to spend $20 on items at a store.)The truth is that all the “Investigation” cards require simple (CHEAP) household ingredients. I don’t know any households without; food coloring, baking soda, smelly things (cinnamon, coffee, etc), small objects for sink/float (coins, rocks, small cereal pieces), cooking oil, raisins, dull pennies, lemon juice and BUGS. What we DID have to buy was celery and clear soda. And coming up with seeds and some soil wasn’t too difficult. Which wasn’t so very hard (or expensive) to do.This is an investment that you won’t regret and will be able to pass on when your kids are older!

Great way to introduce your toddler to science
I like this set so much that it’s now a go-to gift for friends. I’ve bought several science-based sets for kids and this is one of the best. It’s really good for very young kids (2-3 yrs.) in that the plastic is thick and tough, and the flask and tubes are very big compared to other sets-good for small hands, tougher to knock over. It comes with a set of goggles that are really pretty good quality. I have to admit that I steal them out of the kit to protect my eyes when I cut onions now. The experiment cards included in the kit are very easy to read, and very simple to practice with your small child.I’d warn that the tweezers are pretty useless. They’re too big to get into the tubes and too dull for actually grabbing things, but it’s really not a big deal. I think the thing my 2 1/2 year old liked most was the color mixing and dumping water from one tube to another. Even for a substantial period of time after our water had turned black.

Absolutely amazing for my 2.5yr old! I was impressed that everything in this kit was as high quality as it is. This is a great gift for any child between the ages of 2.5 and 6. All activities are easy to put together, educational and fun.Highly recommended — especially for kids who are out of daycare and school.
