Little Rou vs Amma Cocoon
If you’re like me, and like to do a ton of research on trendy products to see if they not only live up to the hype, but are also worth the price, then this post is for you. I wanted to do a direct comparison of this item with the We are Amma Cocoon that I was seeing all over my instagram feed.I recently purchased the bundle of 2 Cocoons (Black & Natural) and at $100 each, I wanted to see if it was worth the price tag. Amma does a great job with their marketing and makes the Cocoon seem like the must-have for any breastfeeding mama. I liked the idea of a breathable knit fabric, so you can nurse your baby anywhere discreetly. This item also offers that. I’ve included photos of both products side by side. Both offers the wearability of a poncho if you’re into that, which personally I am not. My intention of this product was strictly for a breastfeeding cover up.Size: Little Rou is the slightly lighter paler beige knit on the bottom, vs the Cocoon in Natural on top. Little Rou is slightly larger in size.Fit: Both products fit exactly the same, except the Cocoon has an arm slit on either side. Little Rou only has one, which offers more coverage so I actually prefer it.Fabric: I prefer LR’s fabric, which is also a cotton/viscose blend, but it includes cashmere so it’s softer and feels better quality. vs the Cocoon, which does not.Knit: The Cocoon’s knit is heavier and slightly looser, so it’s a tad more see through. Neither fabric is sheer though, so your baby can see out while still preventing anyone from seeing in. Little Rou’s fabric is lighter and in my opinion, more breathable and luxurious.Color: LR in Beige is a nice, creamy beige that IMO looks more expensive. The Cocoon is a more organic, slightly darker khaki-beige. When I wore the Cocoon, my fiancé actually called the Natural color “dingy-looking”. I preferred the LR shade, but if you’re looking for more options; they only have this color and gray, vs the Cocoon which offers many more colors on their website.Overall: For quality, softness of knit, price and overall reasons mentioned above, I’m keeping the Little Rou and returning the Cocoon. This mesh breastfeeding cover has been a total life saver for nursing in public. It’s super lightweight and breathable — I don’t have to worry about baby getting too hot underneath, especially in the summer. The mesh gives just enough coverage to feel comfortable and confident, while still allowing me to see baby clearly and keep an eye on her latch.It folds up small and fits easily in my diaper bag, and the material is soft and stretchy. I reach for this cover constantly — it’s definitely one of my most-used and most-loved baby items. If you’re a breastfeeding mom, this is a must-have!
