    Lego gift
Grandson loves legos. This will keep him entertained for a while. Lots of details.

  2. Skooter H

    Nothing, but pirates
I bought this and the Queen Anne’s revenge for my buddy. He loves the the pirates of the Caribbean movies. Technically they’re not associated with the movie But they’re close enough and pretty cool looking.

  3. Craig Hetler

    great product but not easy
For Lego people it’s a good purchase and actually a great looking product when done. TWO things though the pieces are half the size so definitely 6+is out of the question it’s more like 16+ and when putting it together its hard without other pieces coming apart so in other words its delicate, but if you’re looking for something that looks great and a challenge definitely get this one

  4. Joseph Stewart

    Big set alot of pieces.

Fun, but can be frustrating. So much good, but the bad is pretty bad.
I am really torn on my opinion of this set. It’s great on so many levels, but then it can be really frustrating on others. I debated between 3 and 4 stars, but can’t bring myself to give it that 4th star. The good:1. First and foremost, you can’t beat the price. I had been looking for a ship to build but Lego didn’t have a lot of options. Especially when it came to sailing ships, or pirate ships. The options they did have are quite expensive. This set, at $40, is a mere fraction of the Lego sets.2. The instructions are easy to understand. We’ll come back to the instructions in “the bad” though. The pictures are detailed, and they outline the location where you’re supposed to put them well. In fact, they almost seem better than Lego in that regard. I don’t know if it’s the color they used or the line weight, but it’s very easy to see where a part goes.3. This is a great looking ship when it’s done. There are a lot of details in it. They’ve even got a galley with food over a fire and a pot/pan on a bench. There are cannons below deck (and on deck) with crates of ammo. The bad:1. The instructions. Although the photos are clear and concise, they’re not done in a logical order. You are frequently putting together a piece that will be symmetrical on the other side, but you don’t do them both at once. Odd, but not the end of the world. It’s annoying though, when you realize adding that item to the other side of what you’re building would add stability. More than once, they have you assembling a part that won’t stay put, when you could easily prevent that by adding other pieces to it that go on later. As the build went on, I found myself looking ahead to add these stabilizing pieces out of order, which helped immensely.2. The masts are barely attached. The foremast can be down right annoying. It’s held on by a simple 4 pin brick at the base. One little bump, and it falls off. The mainmast is attached the same way, BUT the rigging on the sides (basically ladders) help to stabilize it quite a bit. Still, neither are exactly sturdy. I realize the ship isn’t actually sailing, but I want thing to at least stay in place if I move it to a new display location.3. The captain’s quarters all but ruined the experience for me. It seems like the manufacturer changed designers half way through making this set. From the onset, I was thrilled. I was ready to buy kits like this and save a fortune by not buying Lego brand sets. But then I got to the captain’s quarters. The illogical sequence, and poor support became very annoying. I went from enjoying myself to angry and this is supposed to be a fun hobby. You’d have to lock a part in, but there was no support so things would flex or fall or move. I don’t know what happened in the design department, but things went sideways at the end of the build, souring the whole thing.Neutral:1. The bricks are smaller than Legos, but they’re advertised as “mini” bricks so you can’t complain about them being smaller. To be clear, they’re 75% the size of a Lego. I attached a comparison of a 2×4 Lego (yellow) and a 2×4 from this set (gray). They’re smaller, but still workable.2. There’s no flag. How do you have a pirate ship without a Jolly Roger on top. Yes, they’ve got the skull and crossbones on the mainsail, but there should be a flag on the pole at the top of the mast. A very minor thing, but feels like a missed opportunity.3. The colors of some of the stuff isn’t quite the same as the stock photos. For example, the cannons are black (which they probably should be), but the photos make them look gray. The benefit of being gray is that they seem to be more visible when you look at the competed build. Another small thing, but worth noting.4. All the cool details on the lower deck are hidden. Once the upper deck is put on, the stuff below is hidden. No ports, or any way to see what you have down there. A bit of a bummer, but at the same time it is true to design. You can’t see any of that on a real ship, so I can’t hold it against them. And I’m also glad they added it, because it would seem cheap or lazy to leave the lower deck empty.Conclusions:1. It was fun to build…. for the most part.2. It comes with a tool for separating bricks, just like Lego’s tool.3. It looks outstanding when it’s complete.4. You’re not going to get a Lego ship for anywhere near this price.5. You’ll get hours of build time with it.6. Due to the complications with the build sequence and lack of support pieces, this is not a set for kids.6(a). Definitely NOT a toy. Your kids won’t be playing with this set. You build it, and put it on a shelf. It will not stand up to play unless they’re making a shipwreck.7. The pieces are smaller than Lego, and they can often be a bit harder to snap together too.8. It’s clear these are a knock-off of the most popular building blocks in the world. They do an excellent job of it too, but the quality just isn’t quite the same.Would I buy more? I don’t know. The price makes it very tempting, and most of the build was really fun. At the end of the day, if you want a sailing ship but don’t want to spend over $250 for the Endurance, this is a reasonable option.

    Very Impressed!
This is a great ship to build! I didn’t know what to expect for the price, but I am beyond happy with what I recieved. The blocks are smaller then lego brand blocks, about half the size, but not hard to work with.It is true to the size in the description & has lots of great details, along with working cannons. I did have to iron the sails due to wrinkles, but that wasn’t an issue.Overall this is a great set & came well packaged. Highly recommend!

Save yourself from your kids fury.
I would not buy this product if I were you. They’re are missing pieces, and the pieces that are there don’t want to connect or stay connected. This thing constantly falls apart during assembly, and my kids are crying and Hate it. The directions are way off and again, Missing Pieces. Save yourself a nightmare. Don’t but this.

I got into this build a bit too much, it was so much fun! And lots of detail. It says its for kids 8-12 I can assure you it’s fun even if you are 4 times that age. The bricks are like those mini lego type. There is lots of detail to build up in the lower deck the back of the ship and then on the deck. It comes with some a couple characters too. It is a challenging enough build for all ages, but not impossible, the instructions are great and the finished product is amazing. For $50 you get a great building set with great detail and hours of saying Yarr! Matey.

  12. That One Girl

This pirate ship kit is quite fun, although some of the bricks are a bit loose which impacts the ability to build it.Once made, it’s quite fun and it’s great to look at it!!The instruction books are easy to follow, and the illustrations are clear. There are some places where it would have been easier to build this in separate pieces, or in a different order, but following the instructions does get it done with relative ease.Overall, super happy about this! The title needs corrected because it’s NOT the black pearl, but it’s okay otherwise
