Simple, Reliable, and No Wi-Fi Needed
We got this monitor as a backup to a fancier Wi-Fi one, but honestly, we’ve ended up using it way more. It’s reliable, easy to use right out of the box, and gives us peace of mind without needing an app or internet connection.Setup was plug-and-play. No syncing issues, no accounts to create, just turn it on and it works. The video quality isn’t HD, but it’s clear enough to see everything you need, even in night vision mode. Sound is crisp, and I like that the parent unit has a strong battery life. It lasts all night without needing a charge.One of my favorite features is the range. We have a two-story house with thick walls, and I’ve never had it cut out, even in the backyard. Very Simple but Good Quality
This camera works extremely well, it has a clear picture both in the light and a dark room, clear audio, and very simple to set up. It also has a option to mount it on the wall which is really helpful. Battery lasts a long time as well and reaches all throughout my house without glitching.

Simple, High Quality Monitor
I ordered and received the VTech VM819 Baby Monitor with a camera, two-way audio, and night vision. I needed this to monitor my father while he was going through hospice. This allowed us to be at different places in the house and to hear him when he had needs or if he started to wander.This monitor also offers lullabies, though that’s a feature we obviously didn’t use. It does not offer WiFi.We used this constantly while my father was in hospice. The 2-way audio works quite nicely, the night vision is incredibly effort, the picture quality is good, and the size of the monitor made it easy to use on a bedside table.I was happy with the pricing here. I knew we’d likely be using this for a limited amount of time, however, I also knew we wanted a quality set-up at a fair price. We got both.This performed exactly as promised and helped us keep my father safe during his hospice journey. This was a great help in ensuring my father could spend his final days in his own home. Avoid the VM819
The VM819 model has surprisingly poor range, with audio cutting in and out for seconds at a time just a short distance away. The PTZ version (VM923), on the other hand, has outstanding range thanks to external antennas on each end, better than anything else I’ve tested. (Though the PTZ camera is larger, in case that’s a consideration.) Any successor to the VM819 really should adopt the external antennas of the VM923.Unfortunately, the parent unit for the VM923 (not interchangeable with the VM819’s) allows only panning with the hard buttons, requiring a trip through the (very slow) menu to adjust the volume. (In contrast, the VM819 uses the hard buttons for volume and brightness.) This really should have been configurable on the VM923 parent unit.This was the deal-breaker for me, since I nearly never need to aim the camera and frequently need to adjust the volume (and I need better range than the VM819). I ended up going with the Babysense V24R, with sensible button layout and excellent range (somewhat less than the VM923, but far better than VM819), and a more compact parent unit.Both the VM819 and VM923 have a non-replaceable battery in the parent unit and have an extremely slow UI, taking several seconds to toggle the display off to monitor audio only. (This made adjusting volume on the VM923 even worse.) Also, as others have noted, the alert tone when the parent unit loses signal is *extremely* loud, no matter your selected volume. These are all better on the V24R.That said, when in range, the VM819 and VM923 video and audio are fine, and the camera and display both work well.

Very affordable
So happy I bought this. Very affordable camera monitor. I’m also glad you do not need WiFi since we can’t get good WiFi where we live. Other than placing the camera and making sure they were both plugged in (or at least charged for the monitor) you didn’t have to set anything up we turned it on and it connected immediately and it worked. You can adjust the volume and brightness of the screen which would be the only things you’d have to set up if you wanted. Very easy to use. I like the night vision so it works well in low light at night. The only thing I regret is not getting the 2 camera option for future use but very happy with this camera. It does have some other bells and whistles like being able to talk through the camera and music to be played but we barely use those functions.

Perfect basic monitor!
We bought this to use when our granddaughter is visiting and it is exactly what we needed! We’ve been using it for over a year now. The video quality is great and the monitor’s battery lasts forever. It has great range – we have a 4000 square foot house and we have connectivity no matter where we are in the house. There’s nothing to set up – you just plug it in and it’s ready to go. For the price, it’s definitely a great value for a secure non-wifi option, a small monitor to throw in the diaper bag for travel, or to keep at Gigi’s house!

We have had this monitor for over two years now and have nothing but great things to say. We own a 10 acre acreage and this monitor stays connected anywhere on the property. We keep the monitor plugged in while not in use and have had no trouble with battery life. I can not recommend this monitor enough if you live in the country or like to go camping!

I bought this device because i have two kids in separate rooms , but after almost 4 months of using it i would say that it was my worst purchase ever..the two camera’s doesn’t work at the same time, one of them get disconnected when i connect both of them..and most of the time the two cameras have connection problems .. i would never recommend it to anyone..
